December 2014

Christmas is always fun in the library!

But on a more serious note, it is a good place to come for some quiet time to think, write or read.  We are open between Christmas and New Year.

The library newsletter is sent out four times a year to current members of the library and anyone else who would like to keep up to date with the latest developments in healthcare.

We publish posts whenever we have news, so it's worth checking our blog from time to time

Top Reader for this financial year so far

We are very proud to announce that our top reader since the beginning of the financial year, is a midwifery assistant.  This is a good reminder that any employee of Stockport NHS Foundation Trust can use the library.  So what has she been using?  Here is a very small selection of the books she has borrowed.

Sorry gentlemen, the top readers are still women, although 2 men are ranked in the top

Evidence Based Resources for 2015

Up until now, we have been very lucky to have had 2 evidence based resources: Dynamed and UpToDate.  Both offer excellent quality information with different features of great use.

Sadly, the time has come when we can only afford one.  We have trialed alternatives such as ClinicalKey (which offers journals and e-books as part of the deal) and Clinical Evidence.  We have asked your opinion on the resources and why you would favour one above another.

Thank you for taking the time to complete several questionnaires.  You have chosen UpToDate because of its depth and breadth of information. You will no longer have access to Dynamed after 31st March 2015 but enjoy it whilst you can.  Both resources are available with Athens authentication by clicking here.
