Two quality sources of patient information

Healthtalkonline and Youth Healthtalk are evidence-based collections of patient experiences, discussing themes such as reactions to diagnosis, effect on work or social life, treatment options or side-effects. Youth Healthtalk focuses on young people's concerns about health and illness.

Both websites are produced by the charity Database of Individual Patient Experience (DIPEx) and use rigorous and systematic research methods to collect and analyse interviews with people in the UK from all ethnic groups. These accounts, in video, audio or written format, ensure that a full range of patients' perspectives are presented.

You can encourage patients and their families to visit these websites to help them make informed decisions about a particular condition or illness, treatment options and support.

Healthtalkonline is available here: http://www.healthtalkonline.org/
You can access Youth Healthtalk here: http://www.youthhealthtalk.org/

Emerald Healthcare Management Resources

The library has arranged a free trial of Emerald Management First, an online collection of journals and books covering topics such as HR, leadership, change management, strategy and finance.

Child and Maternal Health Observatory

The national Child and Maternal Health Observatory ('ChiMat') supports commissioners, managers and other stakeholders who work within maternal and children's health.

Resources include a database of publications, policies and guidance, a range of key information sources and online toolkits.

The website produces a weekly Knowledge Update with news, events, reports and research, to help inform decision-making for high-quality, cost-effective services.

Take a look at the resources available from the ChiMat website here: http://www.chimat.org.uk/default.aspx
